Fundraising

The Annual Death Ride

The AFSC depends heavily on donations, grants and fundraising to maintain operation.  For information on grants and funding, please return to the home page and click on Grants and Funding.

The largest fundraiser for the AFSC each year comes from the opportunity to participate as a vendor at the annual Death Ride Tour of the California Alps.  To visit the Death Ride website, please click on the quick link under Resources at the top of this page for the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce website.

World class cyclists come from near and far to Alpine County for one weekend in July for the opportunity to cycle over the county's tallest mountain passes all in one day.  The AFSC supports not only exploring the beautiful landscape of Alpine County, but the sense of community that comes from participating in such an iconic event as the Death Ride.

During the 3 days of the annual event, the AFSC members volunteer their time to sell beer at the "home base" or registration area of the event.  The proceeds from selling beer benefits the AFSC as this is the primary source of income for the AFSC's general fund.

Please join us at the Death Ride in July, interact with the AFSC, buy some beer and/or commemorative cups and support the AFSC and Alpine County!
