the alpine county burn pile (biomass COLLECTION)

The AFSC participates in and promotes the Biomass Burn Pile (or Fuels Reduction Burn Pile) provided by Alpine County.  The Burn Pile is held for Alpine County residents free of charge, and is an opportunity (twice per year) for residents to haul greens waste from their property to a communal area (Turtle Rock Park) to be properly disposed of.

The Burn Pile is open in the Spring and Fall of each year, for a limited time.  To access the official website for the Alpine County Biomass Burn Pile, please click on the picture to the right.

Because Alpine County residents will likely have greens waste during the rest of the year as well, the AFSC has partnered with Douglas Disposal in Gardnerville Nevada to provide the opportunity for residents to dispose of greens waste when the Burn Pile is not available.  For more information on the Greens Waste Program available through the AFSC, please click on the "Programs" tab at the top of this page and choose Greens Waste.

Pile burning is in effect beginning April 19th, 2025 around Markleeville and Marklee Village.  You can get all of the details here.
